Student Success Center
Going to college can be a challenging - even overwhelming experience, whether you're fresh out of high school or gaining new skills to advance yourself in the workplace. And even if you're super-prepared, everybody can use some help now and then in making their way to a degree or a certificate.
Los Angeles Southwest College's Student Success Center is designed to meet that need. The Center is a vast collection of resources to help guide you to academic achievement through tutoring, study groups, workshops and other services. Students get hands-on assistance in charting their course as independent, highly motivated scholars.
Through the Center's Learning Support Services, students have access to computers, self-service printing and copying, Internet use for academics, and both digital media and textbooks. Computer orientation is available, as are individual and group tutoring sessions. Study areas provide a place to do your work in a proper setting.
The Center is also the site of headphone-equipped labs for Spanish and anthropology students.
And the Center's Assessment program carefully measures student progress to make sure the student is on target.
Finally, the Center offers a broad range of eye-catching workshops to help you round out your studies. Topics include, but aren't limited to:
- Women Dress For Success.
- Think Like A Social Scientist.
- "Stop Tripping." You Can Do It!
- Keep Your Eyes on the Prize.
There are also more everyday, but vital, workshops on computer and library skills, time management, putting together an essay and writing and editing research papers.
